2009-2011 Biennium

The state will invest $33 million in ETIC for the 2009-2011 biennium. These funds support an increase in the number of engineering graduates and degrees to support Oregon's economy and top industries. The final allocation was approved at the July 2009 ETIC meeting and October 2009 OSBHE meeting. See current biennium and 12-month results as of 06/30/10.

As part of  implementing the Oregon Precollege and Applied Science (OPAS) Brighter Future Strategy -- five pre-college funding opportunities were made available and awarded by RFP. See grants for summary of awards and programs.

Workgroups & Events

ETIC's Computer Science Task Force began efforts in 2005 to expand the computer science pipeline in Oregon and made high school outreach one of their top agenda items in a broad-based effort to increase the number of Oregon students pursuing computer science education. More recently the ETIC Student Marketing Committee is widening the outreach to all engineering disciplines. The web site GET REAL: Explore Engineering and Computer Science is a statewide resource for students, parents, teachers and counselors. Visit getreal.ous.edu for more information.

Since 1997, the Oregon University System has successfully partnered with the private sector through the Engineering and Technology Industry Council, or ETIC, to "grow our own" engineers and computer scientists. This partnership is made up of executives representing a wide variety of industries from throughout Oregon as well as leadership from Oregon universities. ETIC works to meet statewide goals of making engineering and technology education a strategic resource fueling the Oregon's high tech and other sectors that use technology, including agriculture, healthcare, forestry, electronics, utilities, and retail.
