(06.11.10) At the request of the Governor and in response to reductions in state revenue forecasts, the Board of Higher Education reduced the state funds available to Oregon's public universities including the allocations via the ETIC program by 7.08% for the second year of the biennium.  See the impact analysis

The state will invest $33 million in ETIC for the 2009-2011 biennium. These funds support an increase in the number of engineering graduates and degrees to support Oregon's economy and top industries. The final allocation was approved at the July 2009 ETIC meeting and October 2009 OSBHE meeting. Individual campus proposals are linked to each university.

As part of  implementing the Oregon Precollege and Applied Science (OPAS) Brighter Future Strategy -- three Request For Proposals were issued and due by September 30, 2009.

  1. Out-Of-School programs for Project-Based Learing in Engineering and Applied Sciences (eligibility restricted to OUS Campuses and OHSU)
  2. High School Internship Program
  3. Computer Science Pre-College Curriculum and Professional Development Program

In late 2009 a Request For Applications (RFA) was issued with applications due by January 15, 2010. This RFA provided for two grant opportunities.

  1. Support funding and teacher training for middle and high schools to start implementing the nationally-renowned pre-engineering curricula of Project Lead the Way (PLTW)
  2. Innovative extra curricular engineering "athletics" program through an initiative called eCHAMP
